Product details of J-Craft Custom Air Intake - Audi R8 Model

Usage: The custom air intake is a performance part that is made mainly to fit Audi R8, a performance vehicle made by Audi since 2006. The current iteration is currently the second generation of the automobile. The following is how you can install the custom air intake.

There are seven main steps in installing the custom air intake yourself. Even though this aftermarket air intake is designed for the Audi R8, a mid-engine German supercar, it does not mean that this specific custom cool air intake cannot fit on other car models or other engines.

Firstly, prepare your tools for an easier installation process, this would not require you to keep on finding tools and parts that you need in the middle of the process. This would include your socket set, screwdrivers, pliers, and hose clamps. Then, you should park your vehicle somewhere clean and spacious so that no external disturbances should interrupt the cohesiveness of your process. Do not forget to unplug your negative battery terminal and turn on your parking break to avoid mishaps.

Now, remove the old air intake. For this step, locate the stock Audi R8 air intake, and remove the air intake housing, intake tube, and other components that may be attached and need to be replaced with the new custom air intake. You should also loosen the clamps, disconnect the electrical connectors, and remove mounting screws or bolts.

The new custom air intake should then be ready for installation at that point. Clamp the throttle body or intake manifold to the throttle body and insert the custom air intake into the intake tube. Make sure it fits snugly inside the air filter housing.

With the previous steps done, the remaining steps are simply for safety purposes and reconnecting previously disconnected components. First, double-check the connections, clamps, and mounting points to ensure that all of these components are secured properly.  Then, you can reconnect the battery and reattach the negative terminal, and again, ensure that is securely tightened.

Lastly, you can test the custom air intake by turning on the engine and letting it sit idle for a few minutes and observe for any unusual behavior from the car. If everything seems fine, you can take it out for a test drive and make sure the car drives smoothly. Optionally, you can also test it out on a dyno to make sure the power output should have an improvement over time when the car is still using its stock air intake.

Compatibility: If you intend to use another car that shares the same V8 and V10 engine as the Audi R8, the custom intake manifold should fit, and function just as intended. However, if you intend it to be used on other engines such as your LS swapped vehicle, K24 upgraded Honda, or other engines, you should consult with your local or a trusted supercar mechanic. The result of using an Audi R8 specific custom air intake may be insufficient or inconsistent air supply to the engine as well as needing to make cutouts to your car parts and more costs spend on other custom parts for the air intake to fit.

Certification(s) And Mentioning(s): While there are no specific certifications showcased by JCraft Motorsports Empire, the company ensures that the products are all to enhance the performance of your vehicle.

Custom Air Intake Overview

Custom air intakes are a great gateway for performance mods for your car. Performance-focused air intake ensures that the air supplied to the engine is clean and cold. Colder air is denser, leading to the explosions happening inside the engine to be much more powerful, directly increasing the amount of horsepower output for your vehicle. A performance custom air intake is also important, especially for those who wish to take full advantage of their hood and headlight scoops that supply air to their superchargers or turbos. The installment of these forced induction systems can affect the performance of your car exponentially when paired with a compatible performance air intake that needs without turning your carburetor, valves, and pipes into a literal furnace.

This custom air intake kit also includes removable adaptors inside the box for usage on other cars or functions, making it quite versatile for a model-specific product. Do be noted that the use of this product outside of its intended use may result in needing cutouts on other parts of your car or truck such as the hood for it to fit.
